Yesterday was gorgeous. Clear air, blue skies, and warm with a breeze. I walked around the Royal Botanical Gardens and saw two black swans swimming in a little lake. It was absolutely picturesque, with people riding in gondolas and ducks lazily grazing.

Then I walked along the Yarra river and through the city to the South Melbourne Market, which is very similar to the Victoria Market, but smaller. I bought two rolls of sushi for about $5. Delicious.

I dropped by a grocery store to pick up a couple items and then walked back to a lovely Shabbat dinner that Viv had prepared. I learned more about my family tree and was surprised to find out that I have second cousins in Sydney!

Today I met some family for brunch and then stopped by the Melbourne Museum for a few hours. Next, I walked to the Victoria Market and looked around before tramming home. Tony and Viv treated me to a movie, which was fantastic: On the Basis of Sex, a movie based on the life of Ruth Bater Ginsberg.

I’m still trying to take it easy due to my lingering sinus infection and the jetlag, which seems to set in pretty consistently around 2pm.

But, I have made a small amount of headway in my studies by listing some of my questions for my committee. Hopefully, I will be able to meet with them on Wednesday, but no word on that quite yet.

Monday is orientation!
